Shaftesbury Capital is committed to keeping Carnaby Street true to its unique character while exploring ways to make it greener, more accessible, and better connected.
This community check-in built on the early engagement carried out last year, when residents, businesses and community groups were invited to share their views on the future of Carnaby Street through events and an online survey. The feedback received has helped inform the next stage of thinking.
We shared updated concept material illustrating how Carnaby Street and its surrounding streets could evolve. At this stage, only Carnaby Street is being progressed.
These emerging designs remain at a formative stage and have been informed by the feedback received so far, alongside ongoing discussions with Westminster City Council. Through this consultation, we invited further feedback to understand how well these concepts respond to the priorities raised previously and to help shape the next stage of design development.
Any proposals affecting the public highway would require further design development and approval from Westminster City Council as the highway authority, and would be subject to a formal statutory public consultation before any scheme could proceed. Separate works requiring planning permission would follow the normal planning application process, with dedicated consultation and communication for each application.
If proposals move forward, any works would be carefully phased to minimise disruption and maintain access, with clear updates provided as plans evolve.
Thank you to everyone who attended the event or shared their views via our online survey. If you would still like to provide feedback, you can contact the project team by email at feedback@carnabysohoconsultation.co.uk, and your comments will be passed on for consideration.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their feedback on our concept designs via our online survey.
The survey closed on Friday 27 March, and all responses are now being reviewed by the project team.
